I Found Free Mulch...

... in my yard.  I can't officially call it a yard yet. It's a heavily wooded area (part of the reason I container garden) but we are working on it little by little.  And yesterday as I was walking through the back of the house I looked down at the leaves and twigs that had fallen below the trees, I moved some around with my foot and the ground beneath was moist and dark.  It hit me... wow I could use some of this for my compost for the containers and garden. The trees will always drop more leaves to replace what I take. (I'll be sure not to take way to much to leave the ground exposed)

Also when we can cut up the undesired under brush we don't have to pile it up for the city workers (Who did an excellent job, by the way and even went the extra mile to pick up branches from the side of the house)  to haul away anymore , we can cut it up and spread it out in spots around the yard for erosion protection and fertilizing shrubs.

This is the way nature does it. It was created to care for itself  and with a little tilling from us it works perfectly!

Wow! for me this is "eureka" something free, a perpetual gift. I love free stuff and all I'll have to do is go out in the back and rake a little here and there. It's one of natures little gifts left for us by God!
