DIY :Oral Care - Mouthwash swap-out

This swap-out  is an old "mom told me so" remedy and has been around since the beginning of time: Clove water rinse for store bought mouthwashes. (The strong stuff)

For the past week I have been using cloves as a mouthwash. I told myself If you can swish with the strong stuff on the shelves then you can swish with clove water, it's much healthier. And beside Cloves was something my mother used to recommended  to us for toothaches, it's a natural spice available everywhere and is inexpensive.

I did some research and learned that cloves have many beneficial properties, which is why it worked when mom said it would, and some of the health benefits are: Anti fungal  anti-bacterial, and is an antiseptic. For those reasons alone, it works well as a mouthwash.

I used clove powder, starting with a
1/2 teaspoon of clove powder to
1/2 cup WARM water

Adjust the strength by adding more water to dilute it if needed or more powder if it needs to be stronger.
I swish thoroughly for a few minutes and spit. (Sorry I couldn't find a better word than "spit".)
The worked very well for me , It takes care of the mouth nasties and freshens breath to, and now it is my mouthwash of choice.
